Push Hand - Single Hand
Single Push Hands is the introduction to two person work in Tai Chi. It teaches and trains in four concepts fundamental to the practice of Tai Chi as a martial art. These are Leading (an attack into a non-threatening place), Adhering/Sticking (as an opponent attempts to find freedom to mount an attack), Following (when an opponent retreats), and Attacking (when you sense there is a vulnerability where you can take advantage).
The recommended reading for Single Push Hands includes:
- Power Tai Chi, by Erle Montaigue, published by Palladin Press (not Power Tai Chi 2 or Power Tai Chi 3)
- Tai-chi Touchstones: Yang Family Secret Transmissions, Compiled and translated by Douglas Wile, Sweet Ch'i Press - Brooklyn New York
- Mastering Yang Style Taijiquan p163-177, by Fu Zhongwen, Trans. Louis Swaim.
